Choose S2 for a more flexible sole and a safety toe cap; S3 is the same with an armoured sole to reduce punctures if you step on an upturned nail.
S stands to whichever European safety standards the boots are tested to.

Description of vegan shoe boot or belt
The S2 variant of this boot has a toe cap that withstands impacts of 200 joules.
The S3 variant also has nan armoured mid-sole to withstand punctures from upturned nails.
Both versions are tested to the current EN ISO 20345:2011 tests on these points and others such as slip resistance, strength, breath-ability or absorbent lining, and a slightly cushioned sole or insole.
The soles are made or polyurethane and are reasonably oil acid and alkali resistant.
The S3 variant is slightly stiffer, because of the armoured mid-sole, and so is made on a more curved rolling last shape than the photos - otherwise it looks much the same and costs the same. It happens to be non-magnetic and so useful for use in airport-like security jobs.
Sometimes a size is available in one variant and not another, in which case the order button doesn't show until you choose the other. S2 is the default option so you may have to click the circle for S3 to see the order button.
