Made in Britain - introduction

Sports TV look strangely old-fashioned to someone borne a few decades ago. People who make sports TV programs assume that viewers will be interested in their town's team, or their country's national team. Commentators quaintly use the word "nation". A few decades ago, the same language and nasal accents were used about British products, but someone somewhere has flicked a switch and they are not reported in the same way any more. One switch for sport; another switch for buying products. There has been a backlash recently such as the "Best of British" show

- minister refusing law to make country of origin labelling compulsory

- evan davies "made in Britain" on M&S
